About

This is definitely a favorite of mine. I feel it represents the epitome of my songwriting and piano-playing abilities up to the point it was written (because, of course, I'll always try to outdo myself). I was asked once how I settled on the title. My reply: "That's when I wrote it, and nothing else seemed to fit."

Lyrics

As I watch her sleep she takes my breath away
Others come and go, but I will always stay
I will fight for her honor if that's what it takes
I will do what I have to, I'll make the same mistakes
Just to keep her near me

As I watch her sleep I thank God for her touch
I don't know where I'd be, I owe her so much
I would live in sorrow so that she may laugh
I would live with nothing, I'd give her all I have
Just to keep her near me

Before the light arrives, before another day
Before I see our lives slowly slip away
Before I sing my song, before I close my eyes
Before I wait too long, before the sun can rise
I want to stop the world for a while

As I watch her sleep she takes my breath away
Lovers come and go but I will always stay
I would give my glory so that she may stand
I would give my being, I'd give her all I am
Just to keep her near me
