Please Yourself

From the Michael Andrew album Whispers
Words and music by Michael Andrew Itzoe

About

Sort of a true story, because my girlfriend was always telling me I was "much too serious." I took that idea and it turned into "Please Yourself." The third improv on this album. This one is so uncharacteristically me that I love it.

Lyrics

And she told me, "Don't make a fuss
Baby, you're much too serious
You've got to play those lover's games
But you don't have to change your ways"

And she told me, "Don't please me
Instead you've got to please yourself
I can be what you want me to be
As long as you can please yourself"

And she told me, "You try too hard
'Cause I love you just the way you are
You don't have to bring love to me
Just let it flow, it'll come naturally"

And she told me, "Don't please me
Instead you've got to please yourself
I can only tell you what I see
It's up to you to please yourself

You don't have to go so far
Just try and be who you are
It's all the you I need to know"

And she told me, "Don't please me
Instead you've got to please yourself
I can be what you want me to be
As long as you can please yourself"

And she told me, "Don't please me
Instead you've got to please yourself"
And she told me, "Don't please me
Instead you've got to please yourself"
