Ember was directly influenced by Strawberries Oceans Ships Forest. I wanted something that had a running under current, perhaps even a somewhat menacing tone. I was also experimenting with percussion (this track also was not recorded using the drum machine). To me, the song represents an ember: the fire may or may not be out, or could reignite itself at anytime. It's about danger, fear, and maybe just a hint of hope.
