This started out as what eventually became Everyone Should Have Someone At Christmas. I basically wanted it to be a song about the fun things that occur at Christmas, and how they're even more fun when shared with someone else. I must say, I'm rather proud of lyrics like "a holiday bazaar in the basement of the church." I feel they really emphasize the sense of an Americana Christmas.
I'd love to spend this Christmas with you
Take a ride in a sleigh built just for two
I'd love to spend this Christmas with you
And nobody else but you
There's a Christmas party going on at the old school gym
They're kissing under mistletoe
Kids are lined up to see Santa, can't wait to talk to him
Making angels in the snow
I'd love to spend this Christmas with you
'Cause there's so many things to see and do
I'd love to spend this Christmas with you
And nobody else but you
There's a holiday bazaar in the basement of the church
While the choir sings "Little Drummer Boy"
Passersby all wishing greetings of good will and peace on earth
Glad tidings of love and joy
I'd love to spend this Christmas with you
You make it feel like Christmas the whole year through
I'd love to spend this Christmas with you
And nobody else but you
Merry merry Christmas
A very merry Christmas
A very merry Christmas to you
Merry merry Christmas
A very merry Christmas
A very merry Christmas to you
There's apple cider and hot cocoa at the Five and Dime
Packages wrapped up in gold
There's a feeling in the air every year at Christmastime
And suddenly it's not so cold
I'd love to spend this Christmas with you
I want to spend the season and New Year's, too
I'd love to spend this Christmas with you
And nobody else but you
