I was looking for a title for the album, something that hadn't really been used before, when Merry, Merry, Merry came to me. I couldn't pass up writing a song with that title, so I got through the chorus ("Hey! This is fun!") and promptly got stuck. I developed the rest of the melody, but the lyrics were eluding me. I was noodling late one evening, singing whatever words came to mind in hopes of coming up with something when, mercifully, they did. I tried to make this one a fun song.
It'll be a merry, merry, merry Christmas this year
It'll be a merry, merry, merry Christmas this year
It's that time of year again
When the Christmas season rolls around
Bundle up, we'll do some caroling
As snowflakes are falling to the ground
It'll be a merry, merry, merry Christmas this year
It'll be a merry, merry, merry Christmas this year
Come and sit here by the fire
And take that nip out of your nose
Come and join our Christmas choir
It's a celebration, forget your woes
And have a merry, merry, merry Christmas this year
Yes, have a merry, merry, merry Christmas this year
Everyone is having fun
Sledding down the frosty hill
Joy and mirth, and peace on earth
Greetings of good will
We'll have a merry, merry, merry Christmas this year
We'll have a merry, merry, merry Christmas this year
