I've enjoyed the
Rutles for years, both the mockumentary and the music. I'd be hard-pressed to choose a favorite between the original soundtrack and 1996's
Archeology (which, IMHO, is probably the most underrated and overlooked album of the 90s).

It's been a number of years now since I did
The Good News, a collection of news stories that avoided the "doom and gloom" the media likes to hawk so much. I tended to update daily depending on the stories I found, but while I enjoyed it, it was time-consuming and, ultimately, sporadic. (Much like this blog, huh?)

So last night we went to the movies, which is a rare enough occasion as it is, but we went to the 10:30 showing, which means we were out at about 1 AM. Clearly, I'm not as young as I once was, because today's been a little rough.

Last week the missus and I went to see Reba McEntire, plus
Eden's Edge,
Steel Magnolia and
The Band Perry. (Of those three, I'm only familiar with Steel Magnolia, because we watched them win season 2 of
Can You Duet?.) She's a big fan of Reba, and while I very much enjoyed
the sitcom, I have only a passing familiarity with the music. Nonetheless, I was eager since I've never been to a country concert before.

Those (like us) who used the one-DVD-plus-streaming service would be required to pay $7.99 for one DVD at a time, and another $7.99 for unlimited streaming. Understandably, this has caused quite the online brouhaha.

I kind of wish I'd seen this a week ago, it would have been a terrific addition to the Memorial Day weekend. Still, this amazing video shows what can be accomplished with enough effort, heart and desire.

Okay, so I've gone a good month and a half since I bothered to write anything, and when I finally do, it's as some kind of corporate shill. Okay, not entirely, but there's still something of a faintly bad taste in my mouth because they
want me to do this.

To call myself a "Trekkie" wouldn't be totally accurate. I've always enjoyed The Original Series, moreso "The Next Generation." I never got much into "Deep Space Nine" or "Voyager" and have seen only a single episode of "Enterprise." But I've always enjoyed the movies (even the odd numbered ones), so I was pretty excited when I heard they were rebooting the whole shebang.
